Cinema-Review: "Melancholia" - Lars von Trier

-©-

There is way to much to say about this very impressing film about worlds end.
Go to the cinema and see it yourself (and if it's just for Kirsten & Charlotte)! I promise it will be worth it!

Taryn Simon - A Living Man Declared Dead and Other Chapters

I went to see Taryn Simons exhibition "A Living Man Declared Dead and Other Chapters" at the New National Gallery yesterday.
An impressive collection of tragic fates, including that of Latif Yahida (who claims that he has been the double of Saddam Husseins' son) or that of Shivdutt Yadav, who is a "living dead" in India (he has been declared dead by his relatives, in order to get his part of the legacy).

These stories are presented in short texts and clinical portraits of the leading character and his ancestors, offspring and other relatives. In addition, one can find pictures, diary entries and other material linked to the certain person's life.

Due to the adjustment (the exhibitions written part is in a very small size) one takes a look at the pictures twice, before and after having been informed about their story. This creates a very interesting effect of a normally well known issue: That your thoughts about other persons constantly change, the more you know about them.

The picture below shows the case of the in 1859 to Australia imported rabbits, which have fast become, and still are, a plaque.

I highly recommend this exhibition to everyone who is in berlin these days, but you may wait until the 10th of October, because the permanent exhibition of the New National Gallery is closed until this date and I'm sure it will be worth a visit!

Window Shoppin'

A premier for my blog: something about fashion.
I'm totally in love with these shoes by Bernhard Willhelm for CAMPER. Unfortunately, they aren't available in my size (47, so I'm used to that). I'm normally not the kind of man for camouflage, but in this case, it fits just well.!

A natural shopping phenomenon happened: while looking for shoes, I found this SLVR fishtail jacket by adidas SLVR.

I love silver in fashion since I read & saw art by Andy Warhol. - And today proofed: This fascination of mine seems to last.

On Tour II

As we arrived at our Hotel in Brügge and asked the receptionist how the weather would be like the next day, she told us, showing a complete blank expression, "Oh, it will be raining, but quite hot, 18 degrees"

As we woke up, we were happy to see she was wrong about the rain, and watched the beautiful historic centre of Brügge...

Her prognosis finally became true, just at the moment we were on the road again...

On Tour III

A cute little red car, a huge ferry & the last part of our journey that included the Netherlands, Belgium, France and the UK.

I must not forget to express deep gratitude to the owner (and also the customers) of "the alma inn and dining rooms" in Harwich, UK, which helped us out in a situation that can only be called desperate. This included great coffee, access to the Internet and adjuvant local knowledge. We had a nice recovery here, collecting information and planning our route further.!

On Tour...

A Motorcycle Tour is a lot of fun... except when it's raining... Which it did a lot, when we arrived at Brügge... Nevertheless, this Fountain and it's surrounding orange lamps look quite nice in the dark & rainy atmosphere.

New Christmas Bulb

I finished my "New Christmas Bulb" today, which I've been planning 2 build since at least 1 and a half year.... The idea first struck me when I found these old "Christbaumkugeln".

During the process I tried to add a contrast; between high polished spheres and loose fitted glue...
